Chabot College’s Architecture and Interior Design students achieved major academic and professional milestones this year through hands-on learning experiences, firm tours, campus visits, and regional design competitions. Many students successfully transferred to University of California, Berkeley to continue pursuing their academic and career goals, with one outstanding student earning $78,000 in scholarships for the next two years.
Students also earned top recognition in prestigious design competitions. Architecture students Timothy J. Tiamzon and Giovanni M. Meina received 2nd place in the AIA East Bay Design Competition, while Interior Design students Carla Santos, Jazmin Hernandez, and Farah Mirza earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place honors at the IIDA Student Design Charette.
The program also celebrated faculty achievements, including Professors Sarah Cravy and Anjana Joshi serving as keynote speakers at KBIS 2026 and Professor Adrian W. Huang receiving the Educator of Excellence Award 2026.
Special thanks to HMC Architects for supporting scholarships and student activities, and to David Baker Architects, Mindful Design Studio, and the City of Oakland for providing internship opportunities for students. |
